According to Sanchez, the song is based on real life, as implied when he identifies one "Georgia" as the addressee in the very-first line. As Sanchez has described this piece, it is inspired by an earlier era in which things were not going well for him at all.
Fellow American singer-songwriter Em Beihold added her own original verse to the song in a remix released on April 22, 2022.
