'"Gnesis"' is a 1969 Spanish-language song sung by Puerto Rican singer Lucecita Bentez, written by Guillermo Venegas Lloveras. The song won a prize at the first Festival Mundial de la Cancin Latina, held in Mexico, and placed Bentez on the Latin music international stage.Daniel Balderston, Mike Gonzalez, Ana M. Lopez 'Encyclopaedia of Contemporary Latin American and Caribbean Cultures' 2000 "Festival of Cancin Latina, held in Mexico, with her song 'Gnesis' (written by Guillermo Venegas Lloveras) placed her unequivocally on an international stage. From then on she aspired to more artistic songs; her work was no longer directed exclusively at a youth audience, and her records began to include the work of poets and composers from Latin America and Europe."
