'Thank God' is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language fantasy comedy film written and directed by Indra Kumar with production by T-Series and Maruti International. The film features Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for release on 25 October 2022 coinciding with Diwali. The film has landed into controversy in India and Kuwait, due to some issues and protests.

Production



The official announcement of the film was made on 7 January 2021. The principal photography began in Mumbai on 21 January 2021. The film was wrapped up on 11 January 2022.

Music



The songs are composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Rochak Kohli, Anand Raaj Anand and Chamath Sangeeth. The lyrics are written by Manoj Muntashir, Rashmi Virag, Sameer, Dulan ARX and Mellow D. The film score is composed by Amar Mohile.

Sri Lankan singer Yohani to sing her famous song 'Manike Mage Hithe' Hindi version for this film.

Controversy



Boycott

The movie is being perceived to be insulting to Hindu beliefs and sentiments by a few Hindu organisations and there is a campaign to boycott the movie, with #BoycottThankGod trending on twitter.



Objectionable Scenes



Demand of removing scenes including insulting depiction of Lord Chitragupta, whom Hindus rever as a God, by Ajay Devgan and a few scenes where improperly dressed women are shown around him and one in which the character of Siddharth Malhotra is shown grabbing Ajay Devgan by the collar are being given as reason for boycott.



Protests and threats



Some organisations of the Kayastha community have called for intervention of the Prime Minister and other dignitaries in the matter. They have threatened to go on aggressive protests against the film.

Karnataka



In Karnataka, members of Hindu Janajagruti Samithi have threatened to start protest against the film and have demanded a ban by censor board.

Madhya Pradesh



In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh effigy of Ajay Devgan were burnt by the members of Kayastha community. Few members of this community are demanding total ban on the film from reaching any audience.

Uttar Pradesh



In Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, also effigy of Ajay Devgan were burnt by the members of the community.



Legal hassles

Uttar Pradesh



A case has been filed against actor Ajay Devgan, director Inder Kumar and others in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, lawyers have submitted complaint to higher police officials and are demanding to register FIR against actor Ajay Devgan, director Inder Kumar and others. In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, members of Akhil Bhartiya Kayastha Mahasabha have met the SSP and are also demanding FIR against them. In Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh also, complaint for FIR has been made to the CO of Sakaldiha.

Jharkahnd



In Ranchi, Jharkhand, members of Akhil Bhartiya Kayastha Mahasabha have submitted a complaint for FIR registration in Argoda Police Station.

Chattisgarh



In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, also application for FIR has been given in Civil Lines Police Station.



International reaction

Kuwait



The film has been banned in Kuwait. The censor board of Kuwait has withheld its approval to this upcoming film.
