'Anikulapo' is an upcoming Nigerian epic film produced by Kunle Afolayan and starring Hakeem Kae-Kazim and other Nollywood actors and actresses like Sola Sobowale, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, and Taiwo Hassan. The film is set to be released to Netflix on 30 September 2022 as a Netflix-branded film. The film was shot in Oyo State, Nigeria and Afolayan has described the work as a "'Game of Thrones' recreated in Nigeria but with a better representation of our culture (Nigerian culture)".
Synopsis
Anikulapo is the story of a man named Saro (played by Kunle Remi), Saro was a simple craftsman who makes his way into a village with the power to resurrect from death, the power that earned him the name, Anikulapo which means the "one that holds death in his purse" as he began to become popular in the village, evil forces gathered against him, Anikulapo soon fell in love with a strange woman whose plans were not so sure to Anikulapo.

Production
'Anikulapo', which is Kunle Afolayan's production in partnership with Netflix, was produced and shot by Jonathan Kovel at the recently launched KAP resort in a village in Oyo State, it was produced and shot on a 40 acre land with all infrastructure and buildings all built from scratch to suit the production. The production also featured the filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan's daughter, Eyiyemi Afolayan, this has been described by 'BusinessDay' as Afolayan "cementing family's legacy" since the his dynasty has been known to be in the film industry from their first generation.
