'Nishan' a 2013 Ethiopian thriller film directed and produced by Yidnekachew Shumete, the second produced film after his 2007 film 'Siryet'. Released on 25 February 2013, Nishan follows titular character who obtained a rare visa to leave country, but her dreams was trapped to life-threatening situation when her father brought a golden gun to his home and apparent ruthless thieves seeking the gun. This prompts Nishan to solve problem in order to go outside her country. The film was distributed by Kurat Pictures PLC while co-production held by Filmgalerie in Berlin.

Plot



Ambitious girl Nishan accidentally obtained a rare visa to leave the city and work aboard. However, situation is altered when her father returned one night from gambling with golden gun. The gun costs expensive prices which allured by group of local thieves and sought to find out.



As the thieves are closer on discovery of the gun, Engida, Nishan's boss's son, wrongfully entrapped her to marriage. In the later part, Nishan struggled these challenges to preserve her independence, protect her family and to achieve her ambition for a better life.
