Synopsis

The three main characters in 'Touch' are Tam, a Vietnamese manicurist who arrived in the United States as a child when her parents fled Vietnam; Brendan, an auto mechanic; and Sandie, Brendan's wife.

Tam has just started work at V.I.P Nails, her first job after becoming a manicurist. Soon after Tam is hired, Brendan makes his first visit to the salon where she works, with the hope that by having the oil stains he gets at work removed from his nails and hands, he can rekindle his marriage. Sandie is a lawyer who works in a firm that specializes in corporate law and works overtime for the firm, often coming home late, and is cold to Brendan, ostensibly because of his oil-stained hands.

Brendan confides in Tam about his marriage difficulties, and when he reports to her that his marriage has not improved from having his hands cleaned, Tam coaches him on how to rekindle his relationship with Sandie. Her advice works, yet in the process a connection grows between Tam and Brendan.

Reviews

A review in Variety described 'Touch' as a "pokey but pleasant romantic drama" that "could have used a bit more narrative complication and tension to sustain its slender premise over nearly two hours, but it has a low-key appeal nonetheless."
