Wikipedia article

'Ryeh' is a 2008 Tunisian short film directed by Lotfi Mahfoudh. The film was part of the Carthage Film Festival's 2008 programming.

Synopsis

Seif is an engineer. He recalls the events which have marked his childhood, how he discovered the movement and the power of the wind, his first love, his studies, his first disappointments, joys and sorrows. As he does so, he directs the installation of a large wind farm which will provide power to his village and the surrounding area. Much like his first love and studies, the wind farm seems like a promising venture only to give way to inevitable ruin. The film ends with a shot of a tear dripping down from Seif's eye, down his chin, into the storm drain, and working its way through an elaborate water and sewage treatment facility.
