'Paari' is a 2000 Manipuri film written by Aribam Gautam and directed by Aribam Syam Sharma. The movie stars R.K. Surchandra in the lead role. This children film is produced by Children's Film Society, India. The movie participated at National Children's Film Festival (NCFF) 2010, Guwahati; 2nd Children's Film Festival and 4th Children's Film Festival 2013, Imphal. 'Paari' was among the films screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2015 under the section 'A special retrospective on ace filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma'.
'Paari' is the first Manipuri children film.
Synopsis
'Sanathoi' and 'Tomba' are close friends. The two live near a National Park and roam around the park, observing wild birds and follow the 'Sangai' - an endangered deer species. When 'Tomba's' father is transferred, 'Sanathoi' feels very lonely and loses interest in watching birds and wild animals. However, his love for nature is rekindled when he finds a wounded bird. He nurses it and when it recovers, he set it free. This makes him happy. One day, 'Sanathoi' is watching a Sangai family and spots a hunting trap, unaware of the danger, the Sangai move on. 'Sanathoi' rushes to save them only to be hooked in the trap. He loses consciousness and dreams that he turns into a Sangai.
