' Samudram' is a 1999 Indian Telugu-language action film, produced by J.Bhagavan, D. V. V. Danayya under the Sri Balaji Art Creations banner and directed by Krishna Vamsi. It stars Jagapati Babu, Sakshi Shivanand, Srihari, Prakash Raj and Ravi Teja, with music composed by Shashi Preetam. The film won three state Nandi Awards.

Plot



Sagar is an easy-going youngster who leads a content life with his widowed mother, sister Chanti, girlfriend Rajya Lakshmi, and friends. Parallelly, Chepala Krishna and his younger brother Chepala Nani are noted smugglers in Vizag. Krishna aims to become an MLA. Sagar and Nani have clashed since childhood. C.I. Srihari a sheer cop newly appointed to that area and S.I.Krishnam Raju is very loyal to him. Here Srihari learns about the criminal activities of Cheppala Krishna when he is about to file his nomination gets arrested by Srihari and makes sure Cheppala Krishna would not stand in the election. There onwards, Cheppala Krishna develops an enmity against him. One day Srihari gets information that Nani is smuggling at a particular place. Srihari spots and starts chasing him along with Krishnam Raju. At the same time, it's Chanti's engagement when Sagar moves to collect her jewelry. During that time as a flabbergast, Krishnam Raju backstabs Srihari mingling with Chepala Krishna. Sagar observes it and tries to rescue Srihari but is implicated in the murder case and sentenced to life. Afterward, Nukaraju is a humble constable newly transferred who is an avid admirer of the late Srihari. Sagar's mother is hospitalized when she resists Nani who tried to molest Chanti. Nukaraju is on duty to accompany Sagar to the hospital to visit Sagar's mom. There Sagar gives Nukaraju the slip, escapes from the hospital, and targets Chapala Krishna, Nani, and Krishnam Raju. The remaining story is about how Sagar proves his innocence.
