Wikipedia article

'Hero No.1' is a 1997 Indian Hindi-language comedy drama film directed by David Dhawan. It stars Govinda and Karishma Kapoor. The film borrows the theme of 'Bawarchi,' which was itself a remake of Bengali film Galpo Holeo Satti (starring Rabi Ghosh). It was remade in Telugu as 'Goppinti Alludu'. The opening scene in which Govinda drives the car and gets ready for office is directly borrowed from The Mr.Bean TV Show episode "The Trouble with Mr.Bean" broadcast on 1 January 1992. The movie also has a good number of scenes (second half) influenced from the cult marathi classic '[https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0267781/ Navri Mile Navryala]'. Over the years the film has gained cult status and is often shown on televisions. The film promised to be the family one providing wholesome entertainment from 90s.
