'The Werewolf Hour' is a 1990 Soviet horror film directed by Igor Shevchenko, and starring Mikhail Pakhomenko, Alexander Baluev & Marina Starykh.

The film was premiered on the night air of Tonis TV Channel in 1990.

Disappeared after his TV-premiere, and the film was considered lost for many years, until a copy was found at Gosfilmofond in 2021.

Plot



The middle-aged journalist Kovalev (Mikhail Pakhomenko) finally gets the chance to become the editor-in-chief of the newspaper. Not wanting to tempt fate, the hero turns to the party organizer for support. And then something unexpected happens - Kovalev's ankle is bitten by a dog, and he becomes a werewolf. Turning into a terrible dog at night, Kovalev has been prowling the city ever since and instilling fear in his readers. Policeman Vasily Kovalev (Alexander Baluev), the son of an unfortunate journalist, is entrusted to find and neutralize the beast...

The film was shot in Odessa and the role of the werewolf dog was played by a dog named Arno.

Release



The film only once screened on the night air of Tonis TV Channel and for 31 years the film was considered lost.

His copy was found at Gosfilmofond in 2021. The film was published on YouTube 28 April 2021.
