'Maqsad' is a 1984 Indian Hindi-language action film, produced by D. Rama Naidu under the Suresh Productions banner and directed by K. Bapaiah. The film stars Jeetendra, Rajesh Khanna, Sridevi, Jaya Prada with music composed by Bappi Lahiri. Shatrughan Sinha, Waheeda Rehman, Prem Chopra, Ranjeet, Shakti Kapoor, Kader Khan, Amjad Khan, Shreeram Lagoo are featured in supporting roles.

In the film, Rajeshwar is the only son of a wealthy industrialist, while Tilak hails from a poor family. When Rajeshwar's father is murdered and the blame falls on Tilak, he must strive to prove his innocence. The film is a remake of the Telugu film 'Mundadugu' (1983). The film was a major commercial success upon its release, grossing 4.25 crore at the box office, becoming the second highest grossing Indian film of 1984.

Plot



Dharm Raj & Satyajit are siblings who have a lot of differences in their ideologies. Dharm Raj believes in capitalism whereas Satyajit is a revolutionary. Satyajit quits the house with his wife Sharda and starts a rebellious movement with a few followers. Moreover, he accumulates wealth by raiding over the capitalists for the welfare of the destitute and he is declared a dacoit. The next, the trio traitors Dhanraj, Nagendra, and Naagalingam in his team backstab and flees with the treasure. Subsequently, they conjoin with Dharm Raj by counterfeiting as honorable.

Years roll by, and Rajeshwar son of Dharm Raj spends his life frolicking whereas Sharda under poverty raises her son Tilak in his father's footsteps. Destiny makes their acquaintance several times as an antagonist. Besides, the trio carries out various anti-social activities in their organization which Dharm Raj is unbeknownst. Moreover, they do not provide salaries to the teachers of their school and the staff starves. Master Vishnu Pratap the neighbor of Tilak is one of them. Knowing it, Rajeshwar retaliates and amends the faux pas. Ongoing, Rajeshwar & Tilak falls for Bharti daughter of Vishnu Pratap & Rani daughter of Dhanraj respectively. Despite their association begins with squabble it flourishes as love.

Since Tilak failed to fetch a job he turns into a truck driver. Once, he discovers that the trio transporting duplicate medicines in his truck from their pharmaceuticals. So, he decides to hand over it to Police when the malefactors provoke Rajeshwar by charging the crime on Tilak. Immediately, he obstructs his way when a brawl erupts and Tilak is arrested. At that point, Dharm Raj meets Tilak to affirm the actuality when he encounters Sharda who refuses to speak. Now, Dharm Raj endorses Tilak an important post in their company and he becomes diehard when the wily accuse him of theft. On the verge of his apprehension, Sharda rises against them and moves out with her son. Here, Rajeshwar & Tilak are under bewilderment and seeks their parents when they divulge the actuality. Listening to it, Tilak sets on treacherous, and Rajeshwar pleads with Sharda to return home which she denies.

Afterward, Vishnu Prataps younger son dies, out of duplicate medicine manufactured by Dharm Rajs company. Thus, Tilak revolts and questions their vampirism but they craftily escape. During that plight, Dharm Raj moves to apologize when Tilak asks him to sacrifice his property for the intentions of Satyajit for his true repentance. Dharm Raj does so accordingly and also accumulates pieces of evidence against the trio. Being aware of it, they brutally kill him and indict Tilak. At that juncture, Rajeshwar flares up with avenge deaf ears for the words of Tilak when the battle ignites, and he surrenders him to Police. Later, Rajeshwar identifies the demonic shade of the trio. He also acquires the evidence gathered by Dharmraj and releases Tilak. At last, Rajeshwar & Tilak cease the baddies. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note by making the labor equivalent partners in their business and embarking on a new era.

Trivia:-

Ao Jao Nagraja Tum Ao Jao played back by Kishore Kumar was picturised on Sridevi, Jaya Prada, Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra as a duet song. Some of the lines sang by Kishore Kumar was recorded twice and mixed together to cater for the heroes to sing together. This is a first song that Kishore Kumar made a duet with himself created by Bappi Lahiri.

'Maqsad' grossed 4.25 crore at the box office, becoming the second highest-grossing film of 1984.
