'Neram Nadi Kadu Akalidi' is a 1976 Indian Telugu-language action drama film, produced by Y. V. Rao under the banner Ravi Chitra Films and directed by S. D. Lal. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Manjula, with music composed by Satyam. It is a remake of the Hindi-language film 'Roti' (1974), starring Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz.

Plot



The film begins with Sriramulu (Kanta Rao) & Raghavaiah (Gummadi) the railway linemen observing some gangsters trying to derail, gang leader Ranjeet (Tyagaraju) fires them in which Sriramulu dies and Raghavaiah loses his eyesight. After some time, Sriramulu's wife also dies, leaving their son Vikram as an orphan, out of hunger, Vikram becomes a burglar and joins Ranjeet's gang without knowing reality. Years roll by, and Vikram (N. T. Rama Rao) becomes a daredevil gangster but wants to reform when Ranjeet assigns him a terminal task and charges his henchmen to eliminate him. Vikram trashes them and secretly hands over the diamonds to Police. Later, Vikram combats a goon for a poor old woman, unfortunately, the goon dies and Vikram is sentenced. Ranjeet chases Vikram, in an attack to protect a police officer S. P. Rao (Prabhakar Reddy) Vikram surrenders and their vehicle gets blasted, but Vikram escapes. Everyone considers Vikram dead. Now he decides to kick off a new journey while traveling on a train, a passenger Sravan (Murali Mohan), recognizes him as a thief by his handcuffs, and the clash arises in which Sravan falls into a river. Thereafter, Vikram reaches a village where a blind couple Raghavaiah & Seetamma (Pandari Bai), are waiting for their son's friend Vijay (Raja Babu) who mistakes Vikram for Vijay and gives him hospitality. In that village, Vikram gets acquainted with a beautiful girl Gowri (Manjula) and both of them fall in love. In the conversation, Vikram knows Raghavaiah is his father's friend and also that he can recognize the homicide. On the other side, Punyakoti (Allu Ramalingaiah), a cheapskate moneylender harasses Raghavaiah to hand over his house for his debt and Vikram protects them. After that, Vikram is shocked to learn, that Sravan is Raghavaiah's son, so, out of contrition he reveals the truth and asks them to punish him but the couple forgives him. At present, the couple wants to move for pilgrimage, so, Vikram accompanies them along with Gowri. On one side, S. P. Rao another side, Ranjit hunts him but he continues his journey by hiding himself. On the way, he is surprised to see Sravan alive losing one limb. Here Sravan wants to take avenge Vikram but noticing his service to his parents, he changes his mind. Eventually, both Ranjit and the police drop in, Ranjit kidnaps Gowri, when Raghiaviah recognizes Ranjit and informs Vikram. By the time, Police surround, but Vikram breakout saves Gowri, and takes his revenge. At last, Vikram surrenders and argues in court, 'It is the crime of hunger' when they understand his upright nature and release him. The movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Vikram and Gowri.
