Plot



Joan Craver is branded as property by her controlling husband, Pierre Landis. She is rescued by playwright Prosper Gael, who shoots Pierre and takes Joan away to a retreat. Gael has Joan believe that her husband is dead while they begin a romance, secretly using it to write a play about Joan's life. Joan is angry when she learns the truth and leaves him. Some time later in New York City, Joan and Pierre attend Gael's new drama. Pierre, who has recovered from his injury, is moved by the play and sees Joan in the audience. He begs for her forgiveness and Joan decides to give her husband another chance.
