'American Murderer' is an upcoming American true-crime drama film, written and directed by Matthew Gentile (in his feature directorial debut). It stars Tom Pelphrey, Idina Menzel, Ryan Philippe, Jacki Weaver, Paul Schneider, Shantel VanSanten, Kevin Corrigan and Moiss Arias.

Production
In December 2020, it was announced Tom Pelphrey, Idina Menzel, Ryan Philippe, Jacki Weaver, Paul Schneider, Shantel VanSanten, Kevin Corrigan and Moiss Arias had joined the cast of the film, with Matthew Gentile directing from a screenplay he wrote.
Principal photography began in Utah in December 2020 and wrapped in January of 2021 with pick-ups and second unit photography done in April 2021 .
Release
'American Murderer' had its world premiere on June 27, 2022 at the Taormina Film Fest in Sicily, following Francis Ford Coppola's 50th anniversary screening of 'The Godfather'.
On July 19, 2022, it was announced in Variety that Saban Films bought the rights to distribute 'American Murderer' in the United States and Canada. It is slated for a theatrical release on October 21st, 2022 and a digital release on October 28th, 2022.
