'Marie in the City' is a Canadian drama film, directed by Marquise Lepage and released in 1987."Onslaught of Canadian films heads for Hollywood, Paris". 'Montreal Gazette', November 5, 1987. The film stars Frdrique Collin as Sarah, a prostitute in Montreal who befriends Marie (Genevive Lenoir), a runaway teenager."Marie proves to be just another hooker with a heart of gold". 'Toronto Star', August 26, 1988.
The film garnered four Genie Award nominations at the 9th Genie Awards in 1988: Best Actress (Collin), Best Director (Lepage), Best Art Direction or Production Design (Franois Sguin) and Best Costume Design (Nicole Pelletier)."Un Zoo tops Genie list; Quebec film nominated for record 14 awards".
