'Nippulanti Manishi' is a 1974 Indian Telugu-language action film, produced by Y. V. Rao and directed by S. D. Lal. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Latha, with music composed by Satyam. The film is a remake of the Hindi film 'Zanjeer' (1973), and became a silver jubilee hit.

Plot



Pratap (Tyagaraju) is released from jail after serving a sentence for the offense of marketing duplicate drugs. An Inspector (Kanta Rao) tells him to reform, which falls on deaf ears. Once reaching home he repents, realizing that his daughter died from the same medicine. So he decides to quit the profession. Being cognizant of it, his chieftain Jagadish Chandra Prasad (Prabhakar Reddy) slaughters him and his wife. Witnessing it, their son Vijay avenges and the single lead which arouses him is the homicide's horse chain on his wrist. Years roll by, and Vijay (N. T. Rama Rao) becomes an honest and valiant police officer, intimidating to criminals. At present, he receives several complaints regarding a notorious criminal Sher Khan (Satyanarayana). Nevertheless, a generous and warm person. Before long, a brawl erupts between them in which Sher Khan is defeated, then he turns his way of living and becomes trustworthy of Vijay. Meanwhile, an unknown person David (Relangi) consistently passkeys Vijay regarding the racketeering of Jagadish Chandra Prasad. From there on, Vijay hinders him, when to thwart he bids to bribe Vijay but fails. In a chase, a lorry perpetrates an accident leaving several children dead which is spotted by a street performer Lakshmi (Latha) who identifies the culprit. So, she is attacked by villains when Vijay rescues and shelters her, and slowly they fall in love. Eventually, Jagadish Chandra Prasad indicts Vijay with a false allegation and sentences him to 6 months. Soon after the release, Vijay is vengeful against him when Lakshmi deters it. Meanwhile, Vijay again takes a call from David who affirms his root cause, that his 3 sons died because of hooch made by these gangs. Now, he assembles all the pieces of evidence against them. Here, distressed Vijay steps back, torn between his desire and promise when Lakshmi upholds her vow. At last, Vijay accompanies Sher Khan, destroys the entire gang, and also recognizes Jagadish Chandra Prasad as the butcher of his parents by the chain on his wrist. Finally, Vijay stamps him out and acquires his position.
